Quick Thoughts:
The Kings have taken an unusual approach to roster-building. Knowing that they won't be able to attract premium free agents, they've looked to trade for overpaid players who've either been dismissed because of their hefty contract (Rudy Gay), or have upside remaining beyond what they've shown to start their career (Derrick Williams). Whether or not you agree with this strategy, it is interesting, and has some logic behind it. But by doing things like letting Isaiah Thomas go for nothing and whiffing on lottery pick after lottery pick, we'll never know if it actually works.

Player to Watch: Darren Collison
Collison is tasked with replacing Thomas as the starting point guard, offering a defensive upgrade for the Kings. He is also a terrific mid-range shooter, and has range that extends to the corner three. Since his rookie year, Collison has cut his turnover rate, drawn more fouls, and became a better finisher. Despite joining his fifth team in six seasons, the UCLA product has improved each season he's been in the league:
Now, as probably the second best player on his team, Collison will be given every opportunity to show that he is a legitimate starting point guard in the NBA.
