Quick Thoughts:
Denver's offensive efficiency dropped significantly last season, falling from fifth in the league all the way down to sixteenth, marking the first time since 2009 that they were not a top five offense. A big part of their decline was their change in shot selection. In 2013, nearly 46% of the Nuggets shot attempts took place within the restricted area, a number which led the league by a mile (according to NBA.com). These are the highest percentage shots and are easier to offensive rebound, so it's no coincidence that they also finished fifth in Field Goal Percentage and first in Offensive Rebounding Percentage that season. Last year, only 35% of their shot attempts took place within the restricted area, and as a result their Field Goal Percentage dropped to twentieth, while their offensive rebounding fell to fifth. They did take more three pointers last season, but only made them at a league average rate. A healthy return from Danilo Gallinari and JaVale McGee should help, as should the acquisition of Arron Afflalo, but the elements of a once elite offense are gone.

Player to Watch: Timofey Mozgov
Mozgov is most known for two things: being traded for Carmelo Anthony and getting dunked on by Blake Griffin. Quietly though, he's improved every season and has become an above average center. He doesn't have any elite skills, but can do a little bit of everything - finish near the rim, rebound, block shots - all things you want from a starting center. With six rotation bigs on the roster, including the returning McGee and the rookie Jusuf Nurkic, Mozgov will have to keep improving to remain the starting center.

How many players in NBA history have had at least 40% of their career shot attempts be three pointers, while shooting at least four free throws per game?
That's efficient shot selection.
Next up, the Portland Trail Blazers
