Quick Thoughts:
The Nets overachieved last season, finishing six games better than their Pythagorean record. They actually were much better once Brook Lopez got hurt and Jason Kidd stumbled upon the super-effective small ball lineups. Check out their four most-used lineups according to Basketball-Reference.com:

LineupMPNet Rating
Williams/Livingston/Johnson/Pierce/Plumlee285+4.8
Williams/Livingston/Johnson/Pierce/Garnett129+17.8
Livingston/Anderson/Johnson/Pierce/Garnett121+7.7
Williams/Livingston/Johnson/Pierce/Blatche110+8.7
With Kidd gone and Lionel Hollins in charge, expect a return to more tradition lineups this season. Lopez's return will make this an easy transition, but the Nets are still thin on the wing after losing Livingston and Pierce to free agency. With an improved Eastern Conference, Brooklyn will struggle to make the playoffs, and are putting their faith in Lopez staying healthy.

Player to Watch: Mason Plumlee
Plumlee was great last year as a pick-and-roll finisher, ending the season with the sixth-best field goal percentage in the restricted area. He was also tenth in the league in dunks, and drew a ton of foul shots, leading to a scorching 67% true shooting. Defensively, he had a great steal rate for a big man, and blocked shots more often than Tyson Chandler and Joakim Noah. Plumlee heads into this season as the third big-man, but it's unclear how well him and Lopez can play together. He would seem to be a decent fit next to Kevin Garnett, but Plumlee only played 76 minutes with him last year, so we don't really know that either. The Nets are sure to have injuries, so Mason should get his opportunity one way or another.
